Your Role:

You understand that above all, finance & accounting’s job is to enable the other parts of the business to work smoothly and by providing clarity on budgets, KPIs and opportunity costs, you can empower senior leadership to make intelligent decisions. GoldieBlox seeks an exceptional leader who is skilled with people and an expert at accounting, particularly with experience in the media and content industries. The Assistant Controller will work directly with the COO as well as senior leadership across the company to lead all finance activities, including AP/AR, revenue accounting, monthly and annual close, cap table management and on occasion, some FP&A activities. This role will also help support investor relations and board activities.

More tactically speaking, your responsibilities include:

● The Asst Controller will be responsible for all accounting activities, including day-to-day AP/AR and cashflow management

● The Asst Controller will support IT, HR, Legal and other G&A activities

● Annual and monthly budget planning - forecasts v actual, accruals and cost allocations across departments

● The Asst Controller will support the executive team in preparing investor documents, including board packages, fundraising initiatives and what-if scenario planning

● On occasion, the Asst Controller may translate operational, marketing, sales and other KPIs into financial implications so senior leadership can make thoughtful decisions around new opportunities

Required Skill Set

● 5-7 years of experience in accounting

● Experience working in a media company


● Experience using QuickBooks a must

● Experience with production financing / commercial lending is a must

● Highly versed in all elements of Microsoft Office as well as Google docs

● Very strong skills with Google sheets and Microsoft Excel

● Keen understanding of how the three financial statements link together

● Experience leading month-end close including reconciliations, revenue recognition, cost allocations and

● Comfortable using and managing a chart of accounts and assigning expenses accordingly

● Comfort engaging directly with executives

● Working knowledge of IT, HR, legal and other G&A components that have financial interactions

Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships

Strong quantitative abilities

Desired Skill Set

● Experience with revenue recognition for subscription and or/long term sales cycles


● Prior experience developing board packages, managing cap tables and preparing investor documents
