Find out what makes things glow green in the night with this hack to make your own out-of-this-world stickers.
1 Tape the freezer bag to a piece of paper that's bigger than the bag using the painters tape.
2 Slip the traceable space stickers underneath the bag. Paint the shapes with the fabric paint and use a toothpick to make the lines precise.
3 Let dry.
4 Peel off the stickers and adhere them to anything you want to have outer space flare.
5 Turn off the lights and watch it glow!
The Sci Behind the DIY
What puts the “glow” in glow-in-the-dark? Luminescence, which is an object’s ability to give off visible light. For glow-in-the-dark paints, a specific type of luminescence is at work called phosphorescence. It gets its name because it’s made of phosphors. When the lights are on, the paint absorbs light and the phosphorescence is what allows it to emit light for a long period of time after the lights go out.
